I'm Oanh - "Oan", one of the founders of OANINA.
In this post, I'd like to spotlight my experience of learning how to sew. It's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. As a teenager, I couldn't afford designer clothes, so I taught myself how to sew and it quickly became one of my favorite hobbies.
At first, I was intimidated by the thought of creating my own clothing. I didn't have any formal training, and I wasn't sure if I could make anything that looked professional. But as I started practicing more and more, I realized that sewing was actually a lot of fun. There's something incredibly satisfying about taking a piece of fabric and turning it into a finished garment.
One of the things I love most about sewing is that it gives me the freedom to explore my creativity. I can experiment with different fabrics, colors, and patterns to create pieces that are truly unique. And because I'm making the clothes myself, I know that no one else will be wearing the same thing.
Another fun aspect of sewing is being able to dress my younger sisters. I love making clothes for them and seeing how excited they get when they see the finished product. It's a great feeling to know that I'm not only creating something beautiful, but I'm also making a difference in their lives.
Sometimes, I wish that I had more time to pursue a career in fashion. I love the idea of being able to design and create my own clothing line. But even if I never become a professional fashion designer, I know that sewing will always be a part of my life.
Sewing is a sustainable way to create clothing. In a world where fast fashion dominates, it's refreshing to be able to make something that's unique and will last for years to come.
By learning how to sew, I'm able to reduce my impact on the environment and create a wardrobe that reflects my personal style. And if you're interested in learning how to sew, I would highly encourage you to give it a try! While it can be challenging at first, with practice and determination, anyone can learn this valuable skill. There are plenty of resources available online, from tutorials to sewing classes, that can help you get started.
So would you give it a try? Why not! You never know where your sewing journey might take you.
